Wedding Chronicals: Update

Okay my loves, I’ve officially been engaged 1 full year! You know what that means? No? Well neither do I. The plan was to have a long-ish engagement because honestly I just wanted to experience every part of the process long enough to appreciate it. So I’m sure you’re wondering what the update is and… there is no update. I’m still just as confused now as I was in the beginning, when I first attempted to start planning my wedding! Today I just plan to run through the general thoughts and my process so far.

Picking A Date

Typically I think people have a general idea of when they’d like to get married. Wether it be on an anniversary or a date they already had in their mind. I’m not one of those people. While I’d love to get married on our dating anniversary which is August 24th, I feel like that is just too far away and I want to have it sooner. The thought so far is maybe a day between or around one of our birthdays (April 7th and May 1st) my only reservations with this is that all of our birthdays, fiancé , our children and myself included are way too close. Fitting a wedding anniversary in so close could make it super hectic to celebrate in the future. I haven’t come up with another solution for this just yet, but I’ll keep you all posted.

Big or Small Wedding

I’ve never wanted a ‘traditional’ wedding. So the big fancy wedding in a huge chapel with friends and family close and distant isn’t even an option. We have both decided more than likely we will elope and then go on our honeymoon and have a celebration with close family and friends closer to our one year anniversary.

Location

As you can tell already, I have no idea what the hell I’m doing! Honestly it’s sad but super hilarious at the same time. If you know me, I’m a more spare of the moment type of girl. If I want something or want to do something, I may wait a few days for planning but that’s it. I’ve always felt like if I had something on my mind and didn’t just do it it would just never happen. And my feelings are sadly the same towards our wedding. So far we have worked up the options of going to Vegas and having a super fun random wedding, simply going to the local courthouse, or going to another states courthouse.

Dress Choice

So, I’m sure you can tell by now I won’t be in one of those huge extravagant wedding dresses. While they are beautiful, and I’ve definitely toyed with the thought, I just don’t see it. I have a few dresses that I’ve seen that I’ve really liked. But nothing that I’ve been able to 100% say “that’s it. That’s my dress”. My mother is pushing for me to go more traditional of course. Her wedding was so beautiful, but our styles just clash. While I’d be perfectly fine finding a simple sleek gown, I’m sure she’d like to see me in a more traditional wedding dress with lace an pearls. I can’t wrap my head around getting an extravagant dress for ONE day. And not even the full day, JUST THE WEDDING! Where in my mind at least, if I get a simple gown I’m sure I’d be able to wear it again at some point in time ( hope you can tell I’m not thinking traditional white or even Cream). But here are the dresses I’ve been eyeing:

So all in all I’m not exactly lost, but I don’t have a plan either. And with us moving home soon, I’m sure I won’t have a full plan until after Christmas . But, the best part of all this? The wedding is one day. Soon, I will have the man of my dreams last name, and we will live the rest of our happily ever after. What could be an anxiety attack waiting to happen is calm, because my very best friend is by my side already through thick and thin.

August Favorites

Can you believe it’s that time again! Goodbye August and hello September! Today I’m sharing my August favorites including beauty, music, and lifestyle! Let’s hop in!

Beauty

Freeman Anti-Stress Clay Mask ($9.75)

http://amzn.to/2viElIN

This has been my absolute favorite mask to use to clear my skin and prepare my skin for the week ahead. I’ve noticed fewer breakouts and my skin is baby soft after I rinse it off.

PraySlayHustle Drink it up Facial Oil ($12.00)

I’ve been using this Drink It Up Facial Oil for over a month now and I cannot put it down! It’s the perfect amount of moisture for my skin without me looking like an oil slick. And the best part? This oil is made by a black owned business and is super affordable!

Amuse Cosmetics Eyebrow Pencil ($6.98)

http://amzn.to/2vAOX8g

I’ve been loving this eyebrow pencil for more natural brow days! My pencil is in the shade Dark Coffee . No makeup makeup has never been more simple! This product stays matte all day and will not budge!

Music

http://amzn.to/2um3oNJ

I used to have a very diverse taste in music. So when I ran across Lana Del Rey I was instantly drawn in. Her soft soothing voice and lyrics have a sound and tone for everyone. Her recent album, Lust for Life is an everyday staple. From the time I wake up, to the time I go to sleep if I have my earphones in 9/10 I’m listening to this amazing artist!

Lifestyle

Yoga

Yoga with Adriene

This month I began a 30 days of yoga program on YouTube from HOME. Its changed so much. I’m more energized after I’m done, so I’m able to get so much more done everyday! Yoga with Adriene has been an amazing program and I love waking up early every morning and completing the yoga program for the day.

Bullet Journal

My bullet journal has grown to be my best friend. I love having everything written down and organized in my journal. Bullet journaling is perfect because it gives you the opportunity to customize your layouts to what you need as opposed to the journals that already have sections in them.

Im Going Vegan + Heres Why

I’m going vegan. No long explanation necessary.

Originally I had a recipe post of how I made a Cheeseburger pie planned for today. As you can see that is very far from what you’re reading today! I decided it was against my morals to share a post of something I wouldn’t even eat. I’m not here to force my views or new lifestyle on you. Simply telling you why and how I made such a decision!

Vegucated

I started by doing my research of foods because I was preparing to go on a weight-loss1 journey. I wanted to be healthier and more active, the first step to having a healthier lifestyle is changing what you put into your body. Then,  I ran across a Netflix documentary called Vegucated. In this documentary, there is a study where 3 normal people essentially go vegan cold turkey to see the physical and phycological  reactions and changes. Not only did all three participants lose weight, their overall health was improved. Veganism has taken people off of their blood pressure medicines and has also basically cured people of their MH illnesses as well. The saying “You are what you eat” is true and very literal.

Ethics

When you think of meat products you don’t typically think of the actual animal. You only think of the food that tastes delicious on your plate at the moment. After researching and looking for answers to all the questions I was left with after watching Vegucated, I watched the film Earthlings. Earthlings is also a documentary, it goes into the process of how that cow, chicken and other animals get to your plate and into your closet. It is very graphic, and hard to watch. That’s all I’ll say about that. But if your interested, I recommend watching the film on YouTube. It was an instant eye opener for me and I stopped eating meat that same day.

Science

I won’t go into detail because I’m still learning and gaining new information daily but, I then looked into the science related questions I had of exactly how you can get sufficient nutrients if not eating milk or dairy products. It has been taught to us since the beginning of time that you NEED dairy and meat or fish to be healthy. It’s simply not true. The same protein and calcium you get from meat and dairy you can get from vegetables, fruit, beans and nuts. I can’t get into the exact percentages because like I said, i’m learning too, but it is proven that you can live a healthy, strong life on just produce that the earth has given us. The book Skinny Bitch gets into detail about it all and I recommend this read to you!

Whats Next?

Don’t really know the answer to that question. I can only take you guys along on my journey to being a healthier me. I plan to share my ups and downs, struggles and accomplishments on my lifestyle change. There won’t be posts with me beating you down with why you need to go vegan, and I won’t push my lifestyle on you at all. I will be sharing my journey so I can find and connect with others living like me!

Have you ever considered going vegan or vegetarian? What are your thoughts on the lifestyle?

Lets keep in touch on my socials!

Jay Manuel Beauty Lip + Eye pencil in Wicked| Review

Welcome back to my corner of the internet! Today I’m reviewing the eye and lip pencil by Jay Manuel Beauty! I got this product as a free sample from an app called Plum. I haven’t used it until more recently when I created a makeup look, where I used the pencil smudged along my lashline!

Price

As I got this product free, I’t was for sure in the correct price point haha! But seriously, this pencil retails at $20.00 on the Jay Manuel website. The pricing is more of a high end product so I suppose the price point is pretty good.

Pigment

I haven’t come across a black eyeliner PENCIL this pigmented! It definitely took me by surprise when I swatched it. Using this pencil on your waterline for a smokey look would be perfect!

As you can see here I used the pencil on my upper and lower lashline and smudged it out using a small smudger brush from Morphe.

The product blended perfectly, and was super dark and perfect as a base for darker shadows.

Overall Thoughts? Would I Purchase?

Overall I LOVE this eyeliner! I don’t grab for pencil eyeliners often as i’m addicted to gel and liquid liners, but this pencil has for sure changed that! Its very creamy and easy to blend and doesn’t run in the waterline. This is the perfect pencil eyeliner!

Have you tried the Jay Manuel cosmetics line? Your thoughts on this liner?

Till next time,

XOXO Lynn
