NYE look #1 deep smokey eye/Wet n Wild glitter review

Hey my lovelies! So I’ve decided to do two looks for New Years! This is my first look a deep smokey eye with glitter! I am also going to review the glitter I used as it was a new product to me!

First things first is the base. I used my ABH foundation stick in Cocoa, LA girl pro concealer in Toffee and set it with Sasha Buttercup setting powder and my L’Oreal face powder.

For the eyes I used the 350m palette. Which I will have a review on soon.

I also used these lashes from LashLand co. A small business I found on Twitter.

For glitter I used this Wet n Wild glitter in Brass. I do not recommend it. The consistency is like a gel but it does not dry down. It’s very hard to work with. I’d give it a 2/10 only because it’s very pretty, just a mess to work with! For glow I used my ABH glow kit in That Glow.

To finish the look off for lips I used Kylie Cosmetics True Brown K liner, Mac Toupe lipstick and a gloss!

Overall I was pretty happy with the outcome. Just wish I used a better glitter.

What are your thoughts? Have you used this glitter before?

Let me know in the comments!

Thank you for reading!

Love Always,

Melanin Mommie xx

Let’s keep in touch!

Everyday Makeup with a Bold Twist! //Blogmas Day 16

Only 9 more days till Christmas beauties!

This makeup look was literally the quickest! I’ll walk you through the steps of my everyday routine with a bold lip!

Step 1. Moisturize! I’m in the process of finding out which ones work better for my skin so I didn’t want to advertise it till I knew it worked!

Step 2. Prime

The primer I’ve been using is Maybellines Baby Skin primer in my t-zone, and City Colors Primer spray all over!

Step 3. Foundation

For my everyday face I find myself reaching for my Anastasia Beverly Hills stick foundation in the shade Cocoa. I typically mix it with a few drops of the NYX liquid illuminator in the shade Sunbeam for a natural all over glow.

Step 4. Conceal and Set!

I use my Sephora concealer to conceal dark under eyes, and set with Sasha Buttercup setting powder.

Step 5. Set and Contour

I then set my entire face with my Infallible matte powder in Cocoa and contour using Makeup Geeks Half Hearted contour powder. I then add extra warmth using Colourpops bronzer in Happy Hour.

Step 6. Blush and Glow

I then add my Bare Minerals blush in the shade Glee, and highlight using Colourpops highlighter in the shade Glo Up.

Step 7. Brows

For brows I use Colourpops brow color in Jet Set Black to outline and shade Bangin’ Brunette to fill in.

Step 8. Eyes

For eyes I pulled out my Morphe 350m palette. I primed my eyelids with LA girl pro concealer in Fawn. I used the fourth shade from the left as a transition shade, the sixth shade rom the left at the very bottom as my crease color, and the first shade at the very bottom to deepen the outer corners of the look. I then used the fifth shade at the top as my lid color to finish it off. I also used the crease color on my bottom lashline.

Step 9. Lashes

To tight line and on my lower lash line I used this Marc Jacobs black eyeliner. For my top lashes I used the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. And for the bottom I used Tarte Tartiest mascara.

Step 10. Lips

For lips I used Kylie Cosmetics Dead of Knight lip liner and NYX soft matte lip cream in Transylvania.

All together I was quite pleased with the look. I loved how the bold lip balanced with the simple eye look.

I hope you enjoyed!

As always thank you so much for viewing!

How To Achive The Perfect Contour

How to: Achieve the perfect Contour

Hello beauties! I hope you’ve been enjoying Blogmas as much as I have! I’ve been seeing some amazing posts. As you all may or may not know I was planning on doing the 30 days of makeup tag on my Instagram. Day 4s theme was contour! I’ve always struggled with contouring. Worrying if it’s too low, too dark or even too high! I’ve finally been able to get it right recently! And thought I’d share how I’ve been able to achieve my perfect contour.

  1. Choose a shade only 1-2 shades darker than your natural skin tone.

My issue has always been that I choose a shade too dark and it looks like I just have a dirty face. Or a shade too light and it looks like it’s nothing there.

2.  Use a small angled brush.

I’ve definitely learned the hard way of which brushes work best. But I’ve found a smaller angled brush works well to stay in the hollows of my cheek bones and keeps the product focused on that area only.

3.  Use a little product at a time, and slowly build to your desired intensity.

I’m sure we’ve all been here (well I’m hoping it’s not just me) digging into your contour shade and ending up with a dark line on your face. Adding product little by little allows you to see exactly how strong you want your contour and allows you to have it be as faint or as deep as you’d like!

4. Clean up under your contour line with your translucent setting powder or a powder foundation.

Adding this step to my makeup routine ensured that I had a nice crisp line for my contour and it also helped me with my problem of getting the line too low!

5. Blend your blush into the top of your contour.

Blending your blush into the top of your contour assures you that your contour doesn’t get to high. The blush will sheer out your contour, leaving an effortless blend!

It’s taken me nearly 3 years but I believe I’ve finally got my perfect contour down! I hope these tips help someone else with similar problems. I’d also like to state that I  am not a makeup artist. I’m simply someone who loves makeup!

Until next time my loves!

Let me know what your favorite brushes are to contour with!

5 Fun things to do in December!// Blogmas day 6🎄

Winter is one of my absolute favorite seasons ! So here’s 5 fun things you can do in December !

  1. Go ice skating- So many places open up outdoor skating rinks this time of the year, I went for the first time two years ago and had so much fun!
  2. Go caroling – Super old tradition, but still so much fun with friends and family. Spreading holiday cheer!
  3. Volunteer at a Homeless Shelter- This can actually be done year round, but the extra joy of helping out during the holidays is definitely worth it.
  4. Donating toys to toy drives- Again can be done year round, but helping less fortunate children have an amazing Christmas is worth it.
  5. Gift exchange- My family sets up a game called white elephant. Instead of the normal buying a gift for everyone we get one gift each and play a game that determines which gift goes to who! It’s so much fun! Cooler alternative to the traditional gift exchange.

These are my 5 things to do in December ! What are your favorite things to do this time of year?
