2017, New Year New Me?

It’s officially 2017, even though I’ll be writing 2016 on everything for about 3 months, I’m excited! I haven’t set many goals for this year simply because I’m not sure what direction life will take me. I don’t want to set goals for one thing and life sways in a different direction. There is one thing I do plan on improving, my health! 

I’ve always been on the thicker side, but it’s never bothered me. I love my curves and everything else about myself. After having two children things changed. I’ve become more self conscious… I find myself asking my fiancé the dreaded question “do I look fat in this?” So instead of beating myself up about it a day longer I’ve set mini weight loss goals for myself throughout the year! 

First thing I plan to change is my diet. Though I don’t eat super unhealthy there are changes I plan on making. For one I plan to completely cut out meats. I know that’s a drastic change. But I’m not doing anything cold turkey. I know having a healthy lifestyle will take time…determination. I plan on only drinking water with the exception of teas as I love nice hot tea. And a few other things I plan on sharing in a later post. 

Physically I plan on being more active. Wether me and my fiancé hit the gym or do a workout out regimen indoors I plan on incorporating exercise at least twice a day. Being a stay at home mom gives me so much time and opportunity to get out and move. I’m definitely going to be taking advantage of it! 

I plan to document my progress,victories and set backs through my blog as well as Instagram. I’m using a fitness device called Jawbone UP to track my food/calorie intake as well as my steps and sleep cycles. 

As you see above, the app lets you keep track of your journey and set goals for you to reach. I’ve set all of the settings for the recommended setting except for the weight loss section. I’m not necessarily trying to lose a huge amount of weight. Simply trying to be healthier for me and my family as well. 

So here it is. My beginning journey pictures and facts.

  1. My husband and I stopped eating meat a few years ago. For me, it wasn’t that hard (I was a big meat eater as a kid, not as much as an adult) my husband on the other hand, ate a burger or some kind of meat since he was a kid & it was pretty much in some form of a meal daily lol. It was different at first, but I’m glad we made the decision. I don’t miss meat at all. We cut out soda around the same time… that was hard because I was a HUGE soda drinker! We basically only drink water (me with an occasional drink from Starbucks) and we juice fresh fruits & veggies. It’s improved our health tremendously!! We just feel better!!

I’m so nervous about not eating meats but I know it’s better I just don’t know what to eat lol the water part is easy for me since it’s all I really drink other than coffee or hot tea sometimes.       1. I was the same way at first lol. It’s hard figuring out what you can eat. I looked at a lot of online sites and picked up a couple of books to get some ideas.
        We don’t eat meat, but occasionally we do have fish or seafood now. We were strictly vegetarian and vegan (for a couple of months) but we do sometimes incorporate seafood so we’re not fully vegetarian anymore. Just see what works for you. It’s a big change but I think it’s so worth it! You’re welcome!! I’m excited for you!! Aww, thanks so much!! 😘😘💕💜

  2. Ahhh good luck! I’m also on a diet, I’m not being very strict with myself as I’m not in a rush to lose weight quickly! But I’ve got to lose the weight I’ve put on over the past 19 months while having a knee injury, my doctor has said that my knee recovery will be better if I lose a bit of weight so I’ve got to do it this time, can’t quit! I love that you are going to be writing updates, I think it will be very encouraging for lots of people and I will certainly be reading when I’m craving a chocolate bar! Haha!

  3. I love your blog, I actually only started eating meat since I was pregnant because I thought I would need the nutrients and have been vegetarian all of my life. I actually felt worse eating it, it shows your body really does not need it x

    1. Thank you so much! That’s what I’ve been reading that the body doesn’t really need it and can get the nutrition through other foods! I’m so excited for this fresh start! xx❤️
